As the Race Director, Thank You for your patience in our delayed opening this year. I was strongly considering career relocation options over the past 6 months and wasn't sure I would have the opportunity or privilege to RD 2015 GLER and held off on opening registration until those issues were resolved.
We anticipate that our GLER Team will hold another highly competitive and enjoyable set of trail ultra-marathons again late this August.

This year's GLER was put together by Tim Hardy and I really want to
congratulate him on doing such a great job. I think that the main part of my
race report should be to honor all of the fantastic volunteers that made
this race happen.
I know that Tim had a lot of help from some wonderful volunteers: Ben Clardy
and several others working hard at the start getting everyone checked in and
Pat Henry at the main aid station and several lovely ladies who were so kind
to me between the many loops. Ben and others also helped to mark the course
the day before. Also, Greg Farnham, who manned the mid-point aid station
throughout the entire race, bravely fighting the insects who pestered him
all day (and evening). He was aided by Ryan O'Dell and another very nice
lady whose name I did not catch (probably due to my increasingly fatigued
brain throughout race). I also noted that Tim's Dad was there helping
out...what a great gentlemen he was. My apologies for missing anyone else
whom I did not know by name, but for whom I am grateful for your time and
It was so great to see many friends and running colleagues at the race for
both the 50K and 100K races. The course was marked out very well so one
could not ask for more. It was hot (for me) but the temperature was much
better than the previous days so I was grateful for that. There were some
incredible athletes out there on the course, including the winner of the
race who lapped me with aplomb! So in comparison, my race was fairly
non-descript and un-notable but I can summarize it below:
. I made the cut-offs.
. I finished in 14:04:17.
. I completed the race before it was dark and I needed a headlamp.
I hope to see many of you at Virgil Crest (Due to a family commitment, I had
to take the consolation prize of running the 50K on Sunday this year, as I
am out of town on Saturday during the 50 miler) and finally, the UM meeting
and Mendon Ponds later this year.
